The week before Christmas. While going through Texas, with only miles of miles in view my car just stopped running. The was a fierce snow storm on the way. Ice on the roads, and not a living soul anywhere. I remembered that if you put something white on a window it would be a distress signal. This was truely a life and death situation. I sat for a few moments to think. Suddenly a beat-up old pick-up truck pulled up behind me. I crusty old man with farmer john jeans walked over and said "Howdy Pardna, Having Problems?". He tied a rope to my car and towed it several miles to an old barn. Inside were several similiarly clad men gathered around a Pot-Bellied stove. I really got nervous. I kept thinking about the movie Deliverance. They all immediately swarmed around the car, opened the hood and started to work on it. They found that a pin from a distributor shaft had broken off. They replaced it with a bent nail. Ran like a charm. I said thank you and asked "How Much Do I Owe You"? The reply, "Where you headin?". I told him California.
